Beautiful women can be bad for your health, according to scientists?
London : May, 03
A study by a Spanish university has brought a new meaning the word heartache. The experiment showed trying to woo a beautiful woman could be bad for a man's heart and even increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
British newspaper The Mail on Sunday reported that the stress suffered by men pursuing a beautiful women could be the equivalent to jumping from a plane.
The study, conducted by researchers at Spain's University of Valencia, involved 84 male students.
They measured the cortisol level of each man before and after being left alone with an attractive woman they did not know.
Cortisol is an important hormone for the body, but prolonged secretion can lead to chronic stress.
The study showed cortisol levels increased after five minutes - sometimes so much the risk of heart attacks became real.
The effect could be even worse for men who get the girl. The study claimed long-term relationship stress could cause 'chronic' levels of cortisol, leading to impotence.
